Safe in the Arms of God, by John MacArthur |
|
|
What was your first impression?
The book is small and attractive and could be given as a gift. Not
too long, pleasant and quick to read. The full title is "Safe in the Arms

Who'd be a Minister's Wife? By Heather Tinker |
|
|
What was your first impression? This small book is designed to look as if it is from the 1950's with a picture
of a smiling woman holding a home-made jam tart, being kissed by a child and
with a man in a dog collar looking fondly over her shoulder. This intrigued
me. It made me wonder what the book would contain which would shatter
this image. It is written by a vicar's wife in Hull and endorsed by Rosemary
Green and Margaret Hacking.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. by John Gray |
|
|
What was your first impression?
I was looking forward to reading this book, because it's been talked and
written about so much. The back cover reads "Once upon a time
Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationships together
because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came
to Earth and amnesia set in; they forgot they were from different planets".
This captured my curiosity. I was keen to start reading.

The Marriage Book. By Nicky and Sila Lee |
|
|
What was your first impression?
I have read many marriage and engagement books. Most, if I am honest,
have been twee. This one looked different. It looked factual and important.
The subtitle is 'How to build a lasting relationship' which sounds as though
it could have something to say to every married couple. The foreword is by Nicky
Gumbel, a long time friend of the Lees.

The 60 Minute Marriage. By Rob Parsons |
|
|
|
What was your first impression?
This is a short, attractive looking book with an impressive claim on the
front cover. Inside it looks easy to read with plenty of quotations and
lists of practical suggestions. Each chapter ends with a "60 second
page" summarising it, and for the really rushed there's a "One second
page" summarising the whole book.
