The 60 Minute Father, by Rob Parsons Print E-mail
What was your first impression?

Not being the fastest reader in the world I felt that the book was
bound to take at least two days to read. It didn't. It did take
about sixty minutes!

Loving God, but still loving you, by Marion Stroud Print E-mail
What was your first impression?

Of a readable down to earth book, packed with anecdotes. This is definitely
not one of those 'How to be a perfect Christian' publications. The subtitle
reads, "Keeping your faith without losing your marriage."

The Book of God, by Walter Wangerin Print E-mail
What was your first impression?

This book is the size of a normal Bible and is a novel of the Bible written
by Walter Wangerin. It is a thick book, never going to be a quick read. The
back cover is full of glowing praise from church newspapers and secular newspapers
alike. Quotes like 'Powers along with great stamina for hundreds of pages…'
and 'Imaginative, stimulating and fresh…' made me feel excited at what I was
about to be immersed in. It doesn't follow the order of the Bible and does not
include genealogical lists and other such action-stoppers.

Three Shoes, One Sock, and No Hairbrush, by Rebecca Abrams Print E-mail
What was your first impression?

"Everything you need to know about having your second child" announces
the front cover, over a cartoon of an older child struggling to carry around
a baby. The book looks down to earth, practical and as if it will be funny
in places too.

Freedom From Clutter, by Don Aslett Print E-mail
What was your first impression?

My first impression was "I have to read this book!" The full
title is, 'The secret of how to win freedom from clutter'. The front cover's
cartoon depicts a naked woman running off into the distance, arms aloft, leaving
behind assorted personal items on the floor. The back cover asks questions like,
'Do you live in fear that one day someone you respect will open your cupboards
– and find the awful truth?' and 'Have you ever finally replaced a broken part,
then carefully kept the broken bits – just in case?' This is a readable
and humorous book. It doesn't shy away from the troubles some of us have with
our possessions.
