What's it about?
This book is designed to be an aid to your prayer life. It can be dipped
into easily, read cover to cover in one go or used faithfully each day. It tackles
different areas such as praying through your child's room and attracting Godly
friends and role models. It has a sensible 'prayer works' approach. Prayer shouldn't
be just a last ditch attempt to solve something you are worried about, but you,
as a parent, should be there praying through things already.
What did you like about it?
I liked the way the author is real about problems in families and the worries
parents have. I liked the way she was willing to open up and disclose things
in her family that made me think, 'phew, it's not just us!' I also liked the
way it was laid out, in manageable portions, with helpful Bible verses found
for you.
What didn't you like?
To be honest, it was a bit twee in places and the style of writing grated
a little. Her tone was sometimes the tone of one who had it all sorted and that
could be a bit annoying.
What will you still remember a year from now?
I will still remember that I shouldn't get bogged down in worries about my
children: 'Will they be bullied at school?' 'How can I show them Jesus when
I am so imperfect' but I can use the power of prayer. God has got those things
under control.
Who would you recommend this book to?
Other Christian parents who want help in praying for their children.
Can you give us a couple of good quotes from the book?
'Our children's lives don't ever have to be left to chance.'
'Praying not only affects us, it reaches out and touches those for whom we
pray. When we pray for our children, we are asking God to make his presence
a part of their lives and work powerfully in their behalf.
