Not directly 'church issues' but please pray for the refugees in Haiti ... the president has broadcast a request to those living in the tented villages following the earthquake in January to evacuate before the arrival of a tropical storm. There are several Christian relief agencies working in Haiti ... pray for safety and wisdom as they seek to help and protect the people.

I am a supporter of the Anglican church in Baghdad and get a regular email update. Today's is talking about the life of Christians in Iraq at the moment after the hostage taking the other week - there are death threats against all prominent Christians, especially the British vicar of the church (Andrew White) and everyone is afraid. Large numbers of Christians have left Iraq for Syria but many are staying put for a whole variety of reasons.
Please pray for their safety and protection in the midst of all of this.

If you want more news, look at their website - they are doing wonderful work out there and are an incredible witness to Christ in an awful situation.

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength

they shall rise upon wings as eagles

they shall run and not be weary

they shall walk and not faint

help us Lord, help us Lord in your way

I read on the BBC news website that they are being advised to leave Iraq.

Dear Lord, please comfort, protect, bless and guide your church in Iraq. Show each individual whether it is your will for them to stay or to leave the country. May they shine as a light in the darkness wherever they may be. AMEN

Thank you, Father, that you are the Almighty God, and that nothing man can do will stop the growth of your church. We pray for your protection for these brothers and sisters - give them courage to continue to serve you and speak of you. Let the gospel be the transforming power in this situation. For your glory, in our saviour Jesus' name, amen xx
