[Moderator's message: Katie started a really good idea of getting to know each other better by each asking a question for someone else to reply. As homegroup threads will be removed after a short spell, I thought it might be better if the thread lived here. Her question was, 'What is your favourite film?']

The black and white film called Brief Encounter, with Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard.
A woman meets a stranger at a railway station, and they form a friendship, and it's old fashioned, bitter sweet, and warm.
There is no sex and violence, and definately no swear words. You are transported to another world.
Ok I guess it's really out of date, and cliched, but I love it and the Rachmaninov 2nd Piano Concerto is heavenly.

Whoops forgot a question!

What is your favourite book?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 Posted Image
Father, make your presence known in my life, I am confident you are there; I just need to experience your presence and receive your deliverance. AMEN

Susan, that is my mum's fav. film too!! It is lovely. But on to books..

Tempted to be really square and say the Bible!!! But I won't, I actually have lots of favourite books - books are something of an obesession with me. My favourite book that I have read in recent years is Be Anxious for Nothing by Joyce Meyer - the same woman who gave the sermon which inspired this thread! She is an American TV preacher - but not at all wierd - very down to earth and practical but inspiring at the same time. Maybe a bit too evangelical charismatic for some but you can judge for yourself at www.joycemeyer.org

Thanks for asking this question Katie, (and by the way Joyce Meyer is an amazing speaker and writer, very inspiring).
I can answer this soooo easily. It would have to be a silver Audi TT with black leather interior. I have a thing about them, I go weak at the knees when I see them. The reason I don't have one (apart from the money), is mainly because I would be a bad girl 8) and drive too fast, and God in his mercy knows this too. That's why I drive a J reg old Astra. Maybe this should be on the prayer request slot too. Thou shalt not covet other peoples Audi's!!!

WHAT WOULD YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL BE?

OK I promise not to have all the goes on this thread but I have to answer this one, I just LOVE roast dinner! Especially on Christmas Day - but on any day it is good - every meal takes me back to my childhood and reminds me how important family really is.

The day I got married.
As you know I have the most wonderful husband ever. Well I am only slightly biased!
I was 20, and he was 24, and most people thought that we were too young.
I feel that we have grown up together, and grown together.
We still adore each other and we have been married for over 20 years now.

What pet do you have, and why?

a black guinea pig called 'denzel' coz he runs round like denzel from 'only fools and horses' and , well, he's black :D
a black rabbit called 'colgate' coz when we got him he bit everybody. (colgate=toothpaste=teeth)
both are rescue animals from a half-way house type farm where my kids now do volunteer work. why do i have them? because no one else would take them and they were due to be.....
well, anyway, we have them. 8)
they are the most antisocial pets anyone could have, denzel defies all guinea pig law and constantly jumps everywhere (including over large plant pots) colgate refuses to speak to anything human. even when that human is trying to feed him his favourite veggies.
BUT
denzel is freinds with the cat that lives at in the house at teh bottom of our garden and colgate is freinds with pat the cat from nex door. if either one is 'entertaining', the other goes back in the hutch until visiting time is over! however they both speak to cyril the squirrel who seems to have decided to make our garden his home. :?:
tonight, however, when it came time to herd them back home, we found a ickle mouse has joined them in the hutch. we;re not sure what to make of that. :!:
as you can tell, pets are something special. just do not start me on the russian hamsters....

ok. what's your favourite song
and why?

Spare-wheel - as someone who used to work for the RSPCA your stories of pets have put a huge smile on my face. I love the fact you let the rabbit and guinea pig out of their hutch - so many people keep them locked up. God bless you for the kindness you show those animals!

I'll leave the question for someone else though -

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG?

Slugs. I can't stand gardening because I can't bear the thought of accidentally touching one!

If you could have chosen your own Christian name, what would it have been and why?

Look at us, answering at the same time! OK, I'll answer yours and will leave mine for someone else.

First off, no biscuit is edible when dunked in my opinion! My favourite undunked biscuit is a jaffa cake. I am calling it a biscuit even though it is called cake as I'm not a fan of biscuits in general. They do live with the biscuits in Asda though and they should know!

I've never liked susan at all. I guess it was the name of the 60's as I have two sister in laws who are also called Susan, and my bridesmaid when i got married was Susan too.
I do like the name Ruth, but when I was little, I guess I would have chosen something like Penny or Mandy which I named my dollies. I guess they are also names of the time, being dollies of the 1960's!

Christian names. How about some one else shedding a little light on that one?

Oh no, don't get me started on girlie names!!!!

All the names I like are the ones I had ready for my elusive daughter!!! Three boys later, and I guess they're never going to appear in my little family!!

Erin - love the name or Ellen. There are heaps of others I love but for me personally it would be one of those. (Although when I was younger I wanted to be Nancy after the Nancy Drew books!)

Ok - what moment has made you go 'WOW' to God's creation? (and baby moments are not allowed as that is always a WOW moment :D )

Seeing an eclipse, well experienceing one, it was very cloudy, but we experienced the darkness.
It was totally awesome.
And definately a WOW moment to God's creation.

What is your favourite sport, either to play or watch?

(And that's from someone who hates sport!)

Oh and Hilary, how could you? Custard creams duncked in coffee, oh wow scrumtious!!!

Right, erm, oh gosh, I'm rubbish at this. ok....

I love the West coast of America and, in Uk, the highlands of Scotland. In fact, places as beautiful as Ben Nevis and Yosemite give me the 'wow' about God.

(Going back to names, I was always jealous of my sister - she was Irene Dorothy meaning 'peace' and 'gift of god' - I am Barbara Edith meaning 'stranger' and 'man of war'!! Well, I ask you!)

What is your favourite sort of weather?
Barbara

Mum to 3, mum-in-law to 3, grandma to 4
No longer a cube but very happy about it!

A lovely clear warm sunny day in Autumn (when there's a sort of earthy smell in the air and the trees have started to change colour - the sort of day we have had loads of this year so aren't i lucky!)

What is your favourite moment of the day?

Spare-wheel are you obsessed by food!? First biscuits and now ice-cream!! If you are then you are not alone....I have a very clear answer to this one, vanilla - but only when it is from Pizza Express and served with chocolate fudge cake......yum!
